I am ~~slightly~~ horribly embarrassed when I noticed my last blog post was months ago. It was non intentional, I just focused on clients and my work and forgot! A blog post does take some time (which I lack!). I am thrilled to start off a few posts with the Feraro Family. She is genuinely fantastic so when I was asked a second time to photograph their family (celebrating Nico’s first birthday!) I was crazy excited.

Photographing photographers is a wonderful treat. They know how to move, dress, what to expect, everything really. Presenting the finished product is always the nerve wrecking portion. Twins!~ Savannah & Emerson

Mom Bethany has used me a few times in the past to document her family. Not too long ago we did an extended family session with her brother, sister in law, their daughter and mother. I was blessed to meet and work with her mother, Jeri. Shortly before the twins and her niece were born Jeri unexpectedly passed away. She was tremendously in love with her family and her grandchildren. I am so grateful we all took the time to document that day, it was the last full family session they had. These two girls are beautiful, loved and have the sparkle of their grandmother. Big brother Mason is there to keep Dad happy (way to Mason) and make his mom smile. They posted a facebook shot of Mason helping wash dishes, he will make a girl very happy someday! Enjoy these beautiful ladies, they are a treasure!

Goodnight Moon

It has been almost three months since my last post. This is a ridiculous amount of time and I wouldn’t normally take that long of a break. I am so appreciative of all the family and friends who have given our family so much support. Surviving the brain aneurysm and surgery has been challenging for us all. Thank you to everyone who has been so tremendously supportive. We appreciate you all!

This session was shot in July (yes, that long ago!). The idea was sparked last year during my 3,000th time of reading “Goodnight Moon” with Emilyn. It was her favorite book and I decided a shoot was needed for this. The Cassimatis Family was so sweet to loan me their time and darling little Ethan (model agencies contact me I can get you in touch with them). Ethan was perfectly photogenic, captivating and tried to eat the mouse. It was hysterical

Enjoy this session and take the time to enjoy the people in your lives. If you have children enjoy all the reading time they give you, nothing stays the same forever.

Parker’s ready!

Parker has this darling little happy-go-lucky personality. Her laugh is infectious and when I asked mom “Is she like this all the time?!” She gave me a little nod and said “Yeah, she is!” How lucky for me to have this darling little girl to chase and play and watch her parents eyes light when she is near them. Baby #2 is arriving in just a couple weeks so this session was Parker’s 2 year milestone. Set in the most perfect location, their home. Looking forward to meeting the new baby soon. Boy or girl we shall see!

Evie is for Evelyn

Hello blog world! I have so much to share from the last few months. This is Evelyn, Evie for short. Although she was less then thrilled with my camera and me, her newborn session is one of my favorites. I love this Webster home, it’s natural light and the lovely nursery. Mom and Dad were a delight to work with and SO patient!

Mallory + Troy, Engaged

This blog post is long overdue (as most of mine are lately!). Luckily landlocked bride featured this shoot a few weeks ago. I had prayed and prayed for sunshine the day of this session. Instead we had overcast skies but looking at the images I wouldn’t have changed it one bit. I loved the results and had a fantastic time enjoying my bride and groom.

Troy’s proposal was intricate, well planned and he thought perfectly timed. Until Troy and Mallory were home a few days before he was to execute operation engaged. They were snuggled up watching a young couple on house hunters. That is when Troy’s perfect plan unfolded before his soon-to-be fiancee’s eyes. She “oohed” and “ahhed” as the man proposed on the front steps of their new home. Troy’s stomach dropped. They had found the house, he had the ring hidden away and his brilliant plan now looked like a knock off. He had shared the engagement idea with her mother so at least he had someone to vouch for him.

Two days later Mallory had her magical engagement on the front steps of their new home.

Mallory’s nanette lepore was perfect. Like it was made just for her.

Emme + Delaney

Oh, I love this family. Our very first session was at their little city house, just as they were about to put it on the market. Then we had the session with just mom and Emme and their “coffee time.” Next was our maternity session when the clouds parted and gave me the most dreamy light, and then Delaney’s newborn shoot just last year. Yeah, I’m emotionally involved with my work. The level of emotional involvement runs deep with photographers.

I adore this family, these girls and the love that pours from their hearts. Their inner beauty matches their outer beauty, a rare find.

Caroline Tran Workshop | Pasadena, CA

A lot of you know last month I went to Pasadena for a workshop conducted by Caroline Tran. It was held at the most amazing Langham Hotel, it was so, so fabulous I was lucky enough to spend two nights there. The amazingness was just beginning. Caroline’s team put in a tremendous amount of planning and work into this event. The team at Skybox pulled out all the stops, Ngoc the owner and coordinator was perfection. She was poised, well spoken and looked amazing from beginning to end. Richard Photo Lab delivered a fantastic presentation on building a sustainable business. Green Wedding Shoes owner and blogger Jen Campbell spoke on being published and how to present your work. I was the lucky winner of a Cypress Albums folio, (so gorgeous right?!)something I hope to incorporate for all of you in the future! The information I took home was invaluable to my business and where the future of Cheryl M. Photo is headed. Enjoy the images from my trip, and take a moment to check out the above vendors.
